Drains & Drainage

How do I unclog my drain?

A quick way to try to unclog your drain in a natural way, without the use of harsh chemicals is really simple. Try using baking soda and vinegar by mixing 1/3 of each into a cup and pouring it into the drain. You should also be aware that when you mix the two, it will begin to fizz quickly. So prepare the mixture near the drain you are trying to unclog. If that doesn’t work, call the drain unclogging experts at Master Blaster Plumbing in Englewood, Colorado! We’re standing by, waiting for your call.

What were the first drain pipes made out of?

Drain pipes have a long history. The first drain pipes were made of concrete, stone and tightly compacted sand. Later, around the 1st Century, wood or “earthenware”, which is a form of pottery, pipes would be created from. Plumbers have been around just as long, whenever there was “plumbing” there was sure to be a plumber, or an expert in plumbing.

Hot Water Heaters

Should I purchase a tankless hotwater heater?

Heating water in your home, or place of business can use up to 30 percent of your average electric bill. This can be pretty pricey depending on the temperature your water heater is set to, how many people are using hot water, and the age and condition of your hot water heater. Installing a brand new, tankless hot water heater through Master Blaster Plumbing can save you money on your utility bill. Tankless hot water heaters last longer than conventional gas or electric hot water heaters and can save you money in the long run!

Plumbing

What is plumbing?

Well, if we look in the dictionary, we find:

  • a plumber’s occupation or trade
  • the apparatus (as pipes and fixtures) concerned in the distribution and use of water in a building
  • an internal system that resembles plumbing; especially : one consisting of conduits or channels for conveying fluids

But that’s not what we wanted. Plumbing was first used by ancient Minoans in 1700 B.C, there were four seperate drainage systems that emptied into sewers constructed of stone found on the Isle of Crete at the Minoan Palace of Knossos. It took 1,750 years to invent the “Bath”. Which was invented in 50 A.D. in Bath, England. Then in about the 16th Century a “washout” closet, also known as a toilet or water closet was invented by Sir John Harington. There is a lot of history in plumbing, and it took a long time to get where we are today. Nobody truly understand plumbing and it’s workings like Master Blaster Plumbing.

Septic & Sewer

How can I tell if my drainfield is failing?

Obviously if your drainfield is overflowing, or the ground around your drainfield is “seeping” with sewage, you have a problem. Master Blaster Plumbing can inspect your drainfield and then advise on the proper actions to either replacing or repairing your drainfield. If the soil around your drainfield can no longer absorb liquids, those liquids will rise through the ground, and may create muddy soil around the septic system. The liquids and waste inside a drainfield can be a health hazard, so calling a plumber immediately is required. We offer 24 hour emergency service, so call us now!

How do I maintain my drainfield?

Maintaining your drainfield ensures that it will last longer, and creates a safe and sanitized environment for public health. To maintain your drainfield you should never drive over it, do not plant large tree’s next to it, ensure the top on your septic tank is properly secured, and once in a while throw a packet of “yeast” in the septic tank to ensure proper bacterial growth.

Sinks & Faucets
